McKinney Performing Arts Center

Complete interior rehabilitation of the Collin County Courthouse to the original 1927 condition. Interior work included wood & metal window restoration, asbestos abatement & mold remediation, HVAC & electrical upgrades, and the addition of a new fire protection system. The exterior restoration involved the cleaning and repainting of brick masonry and cast stone elements, and the installation of a new roof system. Thos. S. Byrne, Ltd. value-engineered this project to meet Collin County’s project budget, while still maintaining Texas Historical Commission’s Texas Historic Courthouse preservation program standards and requirements. The courtroom is now a 430 seat Performing Arts Center outfitted with theater rigging, stage lighting, A/V equipment, fabric acoustical ceiling, stage and pipe organ.
